FOOD PROPS: PIES

created for "On the Go", a Meramec Community CoOPERAtive production

These pies were created from a homemade cornstarch-baking soda dough. The baking tins were stuffed with an aluminum foil armature to make the pies lighter and give the dough the ability to dry evenly. Dough was then baked.


They were painted with acrylic paint, and glazed with glossy modge-podge.


These were created for a show that had two short performances, and two dress rehearsals. Thus the elasticity (and long term durability) of the pies was not the primary goal. Top prop priorities were: simplicity, cost effectiveness, and quick drying.
